Preschool/Pre-K Curriculum

Our youngest learners are little treasures, shining brightly in our classrooms. The Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Little Treasures program is a developmentally appropriate, research-based Pre-K curriculum. It is designed to prepare your 3 and 4-year-olds for the academic and social demands of Kindergarten. Key Features include:

  • Language, Language, Language 
    Designed to fill in children’s language gaps-basic, content, and rich vocabulary taught using the latest research techniques.
  • Early Reading First
    Daily lessons in the four key areas of Phonological Awareness, Alphabet Recognition, Print Awareness, and Oral Language
  • Integrated Curriculum 
    Weekly lessons on Social Studies, Science, Math, and Music tightly linked to the unit themes.
  • Social/Emotional Development 
    Meeting the social and emotional preparedness of your youngest learners for kindergarten.

Preschool/Pre-K Curriculum Themes

January: Animals Around Us

Children learn about taking care of pets and farm animals and how they grow and change.

February: Nature

Children learn about the wonders of nature and how changes in the weather affect plants, animals, and people.

March: Animals in the Wild

Children learn about animals that live in wild environments, how their habitats are different from those of pets, and what makes these animals special.

April/May: Heath & Fitness

Children learn how our body works and what it needs to stay healthy, such as eating properly, exercising, and maintaining proper hygiene.

June/July: Who We Are

Children learn about many things they can do and all the reasons they should feel good about themselves.

July/August: Making Friends

Children learn how to make friends and be good friends, and about the fun things friends can do together.

September: Families

Children learn what makes a family, what families do together, and how family members help each other out.

 October: Food

Children learn about different kinds of food, where food comes from, and how food changes when you cook it.

November: Our Neighborhood

Children learn about the many people and places in their neighborhood communities, from farms to cities.

December: Transportation

Children learn about different ways to travel in the air, on the ground, and through the water and how various vehicles are alike and different.
